Election Interference
An Open Letter to My Neighbors and Friends
Dear Big Canoe Community,
I write to you today not out of anger, but out of concern. Recently, the Chair of the Election Committee, Elizabeth Littleton, posted online accusing me of sending an email filled with “false statements” about other candidates. She offered no proof, and when asked, she provided none.

The Chair of the Election Committee publicly accused me of wrongdoing – with no evidence whatsoever.
I want to be clear and reassure you: I did not write or send that email. Public accusations made without evidence cast doubt not only on me but also on the fairness of our election process. That is something none of us should accept.
I have deep respect for our neighbors who volunteer their time, including Ms. Littleton. But when election officials make public claims against a candidate without verification, it undermines the trust we all depend on.
For that reason, this situation calls for a clear correction, a retraction of the false statements, and steps to restore confidence in the integrity of the election.
I believe the reason I am being singled out is because I am campaigning on truth, transparency, and accountability. My candidacy is about asking fair—but sometimes uncomfortable—questions of our current leadership.
Like many of you, I have concerns about fiscal responsibility, including a 30% increase in property owner fees over just five years and the growing legal fees and list of lawsuits against our POA.
These are important issues that deserve attention, even if they are ones the Board and management have not yet fully addressed.
Raising these topics may make me a target, but I will not be discouraged from speaking up for honesty and openness.
My campaign is, and will remain, focused on what truly matters:
- As your neighbor and elected board member, my commitments are to ensure that our community leadership is transparent in its decisions and finances.
- To hold the Board and management accountable to the same high standards we expect from one another as neighbors.
- To protect the fairness of elections, so that every voice is respected and every member can trust the process.
This community deserves respect, fairness, and truth from its leaders. That is what I stand for, and that is why I am running.
If you would like to know more about my goals, or share your thoughts, please visit my website or reach out directly. I want to be available to you and serve you proudly.
Thank you for taking the time to hear directly from me.
At the end of the day, we are all neighbors, and I believe we share the same goal: keeping Big Canoe strong, fair, and thriving. Whatever challenges arise, I remain committed to keeping this campaign—and this community—honest, transparent, and constructive.
Respectfully,
J Cornelius Candidate for the Board
