This is My Voice

I thought we were better than this.

Recent conversations on Facebook remind me more of playground gossip than serious discussion among adults.

To Set the Record Straight

Some people want you to think I’m tied to other people or websites. I’m not associated with David Hopkins or bcresidents.com. They both make some good points at times, but their comments about me are their comments, not mine. I didn’t ask for, encourage, or otherwise solicit their remarks.

Remember, there are newspapers, blogs, and social media posts all around this country commenting on people like me—good and bad.

It’s a free country with strong First Amendment protections. David and the folks at bcresidents.com are welcome to share their thoughts. Someone posting about me does not mean I’m connected to them.

If you want to know where I stand, you’ll hear it straight from me—in person, on my website, or in the materials I share. That’s the only place you’ll find my views. Don’t mix up someone else’s comments or opinions with my own.

Theory: Many of the people attempting to associate me with Mr. Hopkins and BCResidents are doing so because they think it will hurt my chances of winning the election.

Why would they do that?

Consider the Source

Long-time POA insiders are claiming this election is “contentious” and “troubling”. Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Why didn’t the Election Committee respond to my inquiry about the Campaign Guidelines?
  2. Why didn’t the Election Committee play my video at the Candidate Forum? (They didn’t even try)
  3. Why am I the only candidate receiving threats?
  4. Why am I the only candidate banned from neighborhood Facebook groups, despite never violating the rules?
  5. Why did the Chair of the Election Committee attack me publicly?
  6. Why are my businesses being attacked and disparaged by POA insiders?
  7. Why hasn’t the Board or the POA released a statement denouncing this behavior?

It seems they are attempting to silence and exclude me. They are the ones making it contentious. To what end?

What are they afraid of?
