Onward - Where we go from here.

Dear Big Canoe Neighbors,

Thank you to everyone supported this campaign.

They counted 1,038 ballots in my favor, but we know there are many more who share the vision to make Big Canoe the best it can be—inside and out.

Since the results came in, I’ve heard from so many of you—sharing your encouragement, your frustration, and your disbelief. Your words remind me that this effort has always been about more than one Board seat. It’s about making sure every property owner’s voice is heard.

That support can’t be reduced to a number. It’s bigger than what was tallied, and it tells me you care as much as I do. Thank you.

The outcome speaks volumes.

Three candidates who never appeared publicly and who never publicly laid out their vision for Big Canoe (beyond the initial Candidate Forum) advanced to the next round. It appears the insider pipeline from Leadership Big Canoe, through various committees, and onto the Board keeps running strong. This pipeline isn’t inherently bad, but it shouldn’t be the only path available.

From private house meetings, to the Communication Team’s unofficial social media “messengers,” to the Election Committee Chair herself. Their campaign attacking my character, not my ideas, was louder than any single candidate’s campaign, including my own.

Meanwhile, I’ve never said anything disparaging about any candidate, board member, committee member, or POA employee. Instead I share ideas to improve the community. I do so publicly, and I welcome conversations from everyone, even those with different points of view.

Big Canoe deserves better than the grade-school mudslinging we saw in this election. Big Canoe deserves strong leaders of good character.

The campaign for a better Big Canoe doesn’t start or stop with an election. The need for honest and open dialogue, real accountability, and responsible stewardship of our community is too important to quit. Big Canoe may look polished on the outside, but that beauty won’t last unless the core is healthy. Our job, our responsibility, is to keep the core strong so Big Canoe thrives for years to come.

I love Big Canoe. I want to protect what makes it special. This isn’t about opposition—it’s about stewardship, about keeping our community fair, honest, and healthy.

As Mark Twain said, “Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.”

Let’s astonish them.

Add your voice. Speak up. Let’s stand together.

Let’s make sure Big Canoe isn’t just beautiful on the outside, but strong and healthy at its core.

Send me your questions, concerns, and ideas. I’ll carry them to the Board and keep pressing for answers. I can serve as the people’s representative—the one who makes sure that those who feel overlooked or dismissed still get heard.

Send me an email at jcfortheboard@gmail.com or book a time with me. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

The louder we are together, the harder we are to ignore.

With thanks and determination,

— J.
