Untapped Resources

Big Canoe’s Greatest Untapped Resource? Its People.

Big Canoe is home to business owners, artists, engineers, musicians, accountants, chefs, attorneys, craftspeople, and problem-solvers of every kind. We often overlook our most qualified residents when it comes to solving community issues.

There are countless volunteers working on the Trail Committee, the Wellness Collaborative, BCAR, at the various clubs, organizations, amenities, and more. These people give thier time to enhance the community, and we’re grateful for them. They deserve your recognition and appreciation.

Now: Imagine what we could do if we:

  • Created real advisory councils that weren’t just ceremonial
  • Built project-specific working groups to tap into expertise when it matters most
  • Made it easier for residents to contribute time, skills, or insights on their own terms

This isn’t about more meetings—it’s about recognizing the talent we already have and putting it to good use.

Let’s stop overlooking our community and start unlocking its full potential.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. – Margaret Mead
